THE SELFISHNESS OF VALOR

The concept concerning valor often paints a picture of selfless heroism. A soldier charging into battle in spite of personal risk, a fireman rushing toward a blazing inferno to save lives - these are the archetypal examples that come to mind. Yet, there is a darker side to this idealized image: the potential for selfishness inherent in valor itself
